Located about 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix, Surprise is one of Arizona's fastest growing cities. This charming town, once a small farming community, is now a 74-square-mile city on the move. Sun City Grand, an adult community with its own explosive growth and recreational amenities, has been developed inside the Surprise city limits. The $48.3 million Cactus League Spring Training facility and stadium - along with a regional library, aquatic center, recreation center, and 57-acre park - form the centerpiece of a square-mile-plus downtown development, putting Surprise well on it's way to becoming the playground of metro Phoenix's West Valley. Whether it's a hike in nearby White Tank Mountain Regional Park, a bike ride on the Sun Valley Parkway, fishing, or a round of golf on one of the city's eight public courses, Surprise has a lot to offer.

Take a computer course or earn a degree at Rio Sun Cities Lifelong Learning Center, enjoy racecars at Speedway Motorplex north of town, get in some great water play at the huge Aquatics Center or hit the greens at one of Surprise's championship golf courses. The Itty Bitty Open is held each January. When the holidays roll around, there's always plenty of snow at the City's annual "Surprise Party" in December, as well as fireworks and fanfare on the Fourth of July. White Tank Regional Park is located on the western edge of town, open for hiking or biking, or watch the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers in action during spring training at their new stadium in Surprise.
